Wenger welcomes back Arsenal star to matchday squad to face Reading
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed striker Olivier Giroud will be back to the match day squad against Reading in the EFL clash this mid-week.
The 30-year old striker has been sidelined for quite a time now due to the toe injury as he last featured for the Gunners against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last month.
The Frenchman has had a slow recovery from the injury as Wenger was keen to push on his injured players as the team has been dominant across all competitions. Despite their goalless draw against Boro last weekend, Arsenal sit at the top of the Premier League standings on level with Manchester City and Liverpool and have also topped thier group in Champions League.
Giroud will have to play more consistently in the coming weeks if he want to break into the first team as the current team is in dominant form with Alexis Sanchez playing as a central forward driven by Mesut Ozil, Iwobi and Walcott in the attacking midfield.
However, Wenger has also confirmed Welsh international Aaron Ramsey will continue his rehabilitation as he feels the game is too early for Ramsey. The attacking midfielder has suffered a hamstring injury on the opening match of the season against Liverpool and is yet to achieve fitness.
The boss has also confirmed long term absentee Carl Jenkinson who has recently recovered from his injury will make his first appearance for the club this season as the talented full-back is ready for action in Arsenal jersey after ten long months.
“I think Olivier will be included, but for Aaron it is too early although he is back in full training now,” Wenger told the official Arsenal website.
“Jenkinson will be back and will play.”
