Injuries are the worst thing to happen to footballers, indeed. And Luke Shaw was the victim lately. The 20 year old left-back, faced a double facture in the fixture against PSV Eindhoven about 7 weeks ago. His right leg was fractured into 2 pieces after Hector Moreno’s tackle in the game.
This came as a blow to Manchester United as their left back had always contributed massively and played an impactful role in majority of the games. The injury seemed to be really severe as Luke Shaw was seen in tears while being stretchered out his way from the field.
Gladly, now things have taken a good turn. Reports claim that Shaw is progressing and showing good signs of recovery. In an interview, United boss LvG stated,
‘’Luke is progressing well and is doing as well as we could have hoped at this stage.
We are not putting any timing on his recovery or a return, as it is important we allow nature to take its course.
Luke is working hard during his recuperation to keep his body in the best possible condition’’
Luke Shaw received love and support from fans all over the world and this kept him motivated throughout his tough time. LvG however made no comments on when would he bring back Luke Shaw when asked for a specific date. The boss wants to not risk playing the LB any soon and refrained from stating anything about his comeback.
Although, Shaw didn’t have a good first season at OT, he succeeded in putting up a better performance in his second campaign. If Shaw manages to recover before next spring, Roy Hodgson could consider playing the defender in the European Championships in France.
