Pep Guardiola is one of the few managers in the Premier League that will make their debut in the country come the start of the next Premier League season.
The Spanish genius took over the Manchester City outfit at the end of the last season replacing Manuel Pellegrini and is now looking to add quality players to his squad this summer.
One such player who is closing in on a move to the Etihad is German starlet Leroy Sane.
It is reported that the 20-year old was absent from Schalke’s Gelsenkirchen base on Saturday and that he has already completed saying his goodbyes to his team-mates in Germany.
The Bundesliga outfit were stuck on a £50m price tag for the youngster but Guardiola is understood to have struck a deal at a price that can raise up to £46.5m with add-ons.
It is a great deal for Manchester City who already have the likes of Raheem Sterling in their squad. The manager has accumulated a squad that suits his style of play at the Etihad and though Sane may not be able to take a place in the starting XI initially, he has what it takes to become a top-class player under Pep Guardiola.
The 20-year old has just proven himself at the biggest stage only in the last season and is yet to play his second consecutive competitive campaign and playing that Manchester City will come with its own pressures.
He will take the time to settle into the squad at City but at his age, he should not take too much time to adjust to the English style of play and has the potential to become an important player for Guardiola in his search for success in England.
The deal seems to be almost done with Schalke already looking at alternatives for the 20-year old winger.
They have expressed interest in Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic and Dusan Tadic of Southampton as they weigh up replacements for Sane.
An official announcement of the deal is expected to be made early this week making Sane Guardiola’s 5th signing of the summer after Ilkay Gundogan, Aaron Mooy, Nolito and Alexander Zinchenko.
It will be interesting to see the kind of a role Sane is given at City in the upcoming season.
Do you think Leroy Sane is a good buy for Manchester City this summer?
