Habas plans to bring Postiga into squad for semifinal fight
In a bid to strengthen the team, Antonio Lopez Habas, the Spanish coach of Atletico De Kolkata (ATK) has finally shifted from his unyielding attitude and is planning to field his marquee footballer Elder Postiga, the former Spanish World Cupper in the team’s first semifinal match of the ISL against fancied Chennaiyin FC.
Postiga, despite having repeatedly said that he has been fully fit, has been dropped from the first 18 players’ bench in the team’s last couple of matches. It was learnt that a cold war was going on between the coach and the team’s marquee footballer after both were involved in a row immediately after Postiga, having recovered from injury returned to Kolkata.
On Saturday, ATK had a close-door training session and Habas also did not speak to the media after the training. But it has been learnt from several other footballers of the team that Postiga also had trained with the team and he looked enthused while training with his mates.
It has also been learnt that Habas does not want to take any risk of playing only Hume in the striking zone against Chennayin FC which has a strong defense-line up.
And that might be the reason behind Habas plans to bring Postiga into the squad. The Spanish coach was upset with the team’s defeat against Mumbai City FC in the last match and had reportedly given a message in the dressing room that he would field those footballers only who are fit and could follow his instruction literally.
