Eden Hazard has finally admitted he would find it very hard to turn down any offer from PSG, meaning a big blow for Real Madrid as they have long been in the race to sign him. Real’s arch-rivals Barcelona and Manchester United were also chasing the Belgian. United even made a £65 million bid in the January window.
25-year-old Hazard is currently preparing to face Laurent Blanc’s team in the Champions League last-16 tie in France tomorrow and he has now revealed there is a possibility that he may switch London for Paris as he would find much more opportunity to win titles with the runaway Ligue, 1 leaders.
He said in an interview: “It’s hard to say no to PSG, as with all teams capable of winning the Champions League.
“Now, PSG are part of this category. And for me, winning the Champions League is the main objective.
“But for now, I do not dwell on it.”
Hazard was awarded Premier League’s Player Of The Year prize last season for his exceptional performance, but this term has been well below par best as Chelsea have now slumped to 12th this season despite winning the league title last term.
There were several reports in the January Transfer Window that suggested Chelsea were ready to sell the Belgian if any club stepped up responding their £80m price tag.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s new manager Zinedine Zidane also has identified the Belgian as his top priority target in a potential £250m spending spree this summer. But now it seems PSG could be leading the race to secure the service of Hazard, signed for £32m from Lille in 2012, back to France.
After the appointment of Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid replacing Benitez, reports started to come that the La Liga giants will again step up their pursuit of the highly-rated playmaker. Zidane has long been a big admirer of Hazard and he could certainly well try and tempt the Belgium international to Bernabeu in the summer as Hazard also regards him as his idol.
And Hazard has stated he would grab at the chance to work with Blanc, who has guided the French Champions to back-to-back league titles.
Speaking to Le Parisien, the star midfielder further said: “I want to work with the best coaches in the world.
“I do not know if Zidane falls into that category, he has only been at Real since January.”
The 24-year-old Belgian midfielder only signed a new long-term contract worth £200,000-a-week with Chelsea in February last year.
