Sardar Azmoun’s agent, Mehdi Hagitali has said that the highly-rated player is likely to stay at FC Rostov for the time being amid the rumours of Liverpool eyeing the player.
The 21-year old has been linked to the Merseyside club in recent weeks after his impressive display for club and country. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will be short on striking options in January as Danny Ings has been ruled out of the season with an injury while Sadio Mane will be playing in Africa Cup of Nations.
Moreover, rumors of Daniel Sturridge eyeing a move away from the club and if he quits the club then Klopp will be severely depleted of striking options in a season which have looked very promising so far. Reports suggested that the German tactician was eyeing the Iranian hotshot to bolster his frontline but the player’s agent has denied any formal approach from the Reds.
“I read about the interest in Sardar from Liverpool, but I can say that at present there have been no formal proposals from either foreign or Russian clubs,” Hagitali said.
Hagitali said that the player is currently focussed at becoming the best striker in Russia and is looking forward to working with FC Rostov coach.
Hagitali said: “Now his main goal is to become the best striker in the Russian Premier League.
“Kurban Berdyev (FC Rostov manager) is like a father-figure, and he would like to work with the coach.”
However, the agent is not ruling out a move in the future by saying: “If some proposals come, we will look at them.”
Known as the Iranian Messi, Azmoun hogged the limelight last season when he scored nine goals in 24 appearances for Rostov. He has managed just one goal in the league this season so far but has been in superb form in the Champions League where he has scored thrice.
