After a 3rd place finish, Chelsea started the 2014-15 season astonishingly well. Jose Mourinho made big name purchases in Diego Costa, Fabreagas and Courtois before the season. They went the first 3 months of the season as the only un-beaten side in the Premier League. Everything was going well and they won the League with games to spare. The fans went were also ecstatic about the team’s performance.

So, before we move on to the next season, lets take a look at the highs and lows that the club has seen in the previous season.

Highs

After accumulating a strong squad, Mourinho made some tactical moves in games that stunned opponents and made sure that they are on top of the table for a long time. Eden Hazard was one of the best players in the league last season. Not many defenders had answers to his pace and trickery. Costa was also full of confidence giving them important goals when needed.

The best part of Chelsea’s season will surely be the win victory against Crystal Palace that saw them get a guard of honor from the Liverpool players on the next game day at the Bridge as they won the League. They also won the Capital One Cup by beating Tottenham. This was also one of the moments of the season for the fans as this was the first trophy they lifted in the season. A 6-0 victory against Maribor in the Champion League was also a memorable day for the club.

But the most memorable moment for the fans would be the last day of the League when the skipper John Terry lifted the Barclays Premier League at the Stamford Bridge.

Lows

Chelsea were not at their best in some of the cup competitions. They crashed out of the Champions League after going down on away rules to a determined PSG side. The game ended in an aggregate of 3-3 but PSG went through with 2 away goals. This game crashed their hopes of a Champions League in the previous season.

But the worst day of last season for Chelsea was the defeat against Bradford City in the FA Cup. Bradford City travelled to the Bridge and would not have expected to beat the no.1 side of the Premier League Table. They ended the game with a 4-2 victory and sent Chelsea out of the FA Cup. This game ended the chances of a Treble for Mourinho’s side.

The 1st day of the year was also a day to forget for the Chelsea fans as they travelled to the White Hart Lane. Tottenham ran ragged on the day as they defeated them 5-3 at the end of 90 minutes. Thankfully, this did not affect the chances of the club of winning the Premier League.

Mourinho has not made a lot of purchases in this transfer window. But Radamel Falcao is a player that will only add on to the already star studded line-up of the club. But with the teams around considerably strengthening their squads, they will have to recreate their form from the previous season if they want another successful season.
