Zinedine Zidane has seemingly confirmed Jese Rodriguez is on his way to PSG leaving Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United fans in shock as all the three big boys were trying to land the Spaniard.
The Real Madrid forward has been continually linked with a move away from the Bernabeu after falling down the pecking order.
And reports in France now suggest both PSG and Real have agreed on a £21m transfer, putting an end to Arsenal, Liverpool and United’s hopes of signing him.
Zidane believes a move to the French champions is edging closer.
“[The deal is] not closed, but is on the way. Is PSG is an ideal place for him? I think yes, he is going to score many goals,” Zidane told bein Sports.
“I hope he does well, but Madrid is home.”
The news certainly comes as a blow to Liverpool and Arsenal as the both of them have been heavily linked with the 23-year-old over the past few weeks.
Arsene Wenger is keen to find a strike partner for Olivier Giroud. A lack of activity in the transfer market has represented an auspicious start to the summer and with Arsenal already looking ill-prepared for a daunting looking opening run of Premier League fixtures, pressure is already growing on Wenger before a ball has been kicked in anger.
Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp is likely to need a replacement for the out-going Mario Balotelli.
Jese, being a Real Madrid academy product, has been expected to search for another club after Real chose to activate a buy-back clause to bring Alvaro Morata back to Zinedine Zidane’s team.
The player himself is not in a mood to renew his contract with Real Madrid also despite it set to expire at the end of the coming season.
