Huge Blow For Manchester United As Top Transfer Target Set To Sign New Contract Before Christmas

Manchester United and Jose Mourinho have set the tone in the Premier League with a world record signing in the summer transfer window, leading into the current season.

The amounts of money that was spent on various transfers in the off season makes the asking price for certain players look mediocre and one such player who Manchester United are ready to break the bank yet again for is Uruguay forward Luis Suarez.

The former Liverpool man has been in sublime form since him move away from Ajax and has scored 30+ goals in each of the last 3 seasons making him one of the best strikers in Europe at the moment.

He is currently an integral part of the squad at Barcelona and has been influential in their run in the La Liga and also in Europe. Though he has not been prolific in front of goal recently, he is still an important player for the side this season.

However, Manchester United and Jose Mourinho, who are in desperate need of a top class striker who can provide 30+ goals a season have now turned their attention towards the former Scouser for a move next summer.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney are expected to leave the club at the end of the season leaving the manager with no genuine striker to lead the attack. The likes of Antoine Griezmann and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang have been linked with a move to Old Trafford but Mourinho is now desperate for the Barcelona man due to his previous experience in the league.

It is understood that Mourinho is ready to meet his valuation and was ready to pay close to £135m in the summer transfer window for their man.

However, Barcelona chiefs have now responded to their speculations and have all but ended United’s chance of landing the 28-year old.

Talking about Suarez’ chance of leaving the club, Barca president Jose Luis Bartomeu revealed that he has a contract extension planned for the Uruguayan and that he is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Speaking to the media, Bartomeu said, We read, we listen, we see this news, but of course, our interest in this particular case is that Luis Suarez is happy at Barcelona. For me, he is probably the best striker in Europe and we want him to be with us.’

‘Right now, we are trying to extend his contract with Barcelona and he is one of our big future efforts because he is still young, he has a vision, a lot of ambition,’ he added.

The report went on to explain that Suarez is also happy in Catalunya and will sign the contract before Christmas giving Manchester United a big blow.

In 13 appearances the 29-year old has created 18 chances, scoring 9 goals and picking up 8 assists. He is more than happy to play alongside the likes of Neymar Jr and Lionel Messi and will not be bothered about the links in the paper.

Even if he wants to leave, his connection with the Kop will make it hard for him to accept a move to Old Trafford.

Surely Manchester United cannot even lay a hand on Luis Suarez. Do you think Mourinho can sign Suarez next summer?
