Chelsea defender John Terry has been ruled out of Liverpool match as he is expected to be out for 10 days after suffering an ankle injury, the player has confirmed.
The 35-year old has suffered an ankle injury in their clash against Swansea at Liberty Stadium on Sunday and was found grounded with agony after the final whistle.
In his Instagram post, John Terry wrote: “I have strained my ligaments in my ankle which means I will be out for 10 days. Absolutely gutted, but will be giving everything to get back playing.”
Terry underwent a scan today to understand the extent of the injury he suffered and now he is considered to be out for Liverpool clash. The unavailability of Terry would be a huge blow for the Blues and manager Conte as the 35-year old has started in each of the four Premier League games so far.
He has signed a one-year contract extension in May and has accepted the role offered by Conte. He has looked solid on defense so far this season but the injury meant Conte will offer new signing David Luiz his first Chelsea appearance since his return to Stamford Bridge.
The 28-year old has made a shocking return to Chelsea after signing for the Blues in the final stages of deadline day. Conte is now forced to start the Brazilian in the high profile game as he is short of options.
However, Blues have a positive news as Football Association are not going to take any action on Chelsea defender Gary Cahill as the latter have taken the social media to express his frustration over the referee Andre Marriner in their draw against Swansea.
Terry could also miss the clash against League Cup third-round tie against Leicester City and faces a fight against time to recover in time for their trip to Emirates on September 24.
