FC Barcelona manager Luis Enrique has revealed that even though he wants Spanish winger Pedro to stay at the club this season, he won’t resist if the player takes an other decision. Speaking to the media after the club’s pre-season friendlies at USA, Enrique confronted the media in press conference on August 4th.

Luis Enrique said: “Pedro is a top player and I hope he stays but it will be his decision”.

Pedro has been linked with a move away from Nou Camp this season and his likely destination is Premier League giants Manchester United. The Red Devils are on the verge of selling Argentine winger Angel Di Maria to PSG and they consider Pedro as a suitable successor of Di Maria at Old Trafford.

Luis Enrique previously had said that he would want Pedro to stay at the club as he cherishes his talent and admires him. Pedro had joined the club in 2007 when Pep Guardiola was in charge. He has won several accolades with the club in the past few years but never became a first team regular. Last season when Barcelona had bought Luis Suarez it became Pedro would remain a second fiddle at the club forever.

Due to lack of game time Pedro has apparently decided to call an end on his Barcelona career.

Luis Enrique also spoke about his team’s poor pre-season performances. The team played four games at the USA out of which they lost 3 games. The Treble winning manager did not seem pertrubed with the poor performances of his team.

He further added: “The best is that it’s nearly over. I’m not one for pre-season. I prefer competitive games. I’m satisfied on a collective level but there a few defensive aspects that we need to work on. In general, I’d say it was an acceptable pre-season”.
