Huge! Liverpool owners to cancel Anfield development as fans go mad on Twitter

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool look a strong outfit this season in the Premier League with all the additions to the squad the manager made in the off-season.

There is loads of excitement surrounding the club at moment and though most of it is down to their excellent start to the season, a part of it is due to the expansion at Anfield that has made Liverpool a bigger club as a whole.

The expansion sees Anfield’s capacity increase to more than 55,000 and it is understood that this is not the only redevelopment that the current owners of the club are planning.

Earlier this month, reports suggested that FSG, the owners of the Liverpool club, are planning to continue redeveloping Anfield and that they had plans to improve on the Anfield Road end of Anfield to further improve the capacity of the stadium.

This news was met with a lot of cheers from fans around the country, but John Henry, the CEO of FSG has today revealed that the construction on the Anfield road may not go as planned.

The owners of the club earlier this year, apologized to the fans and reduced the previously increased ticket prices, to earn some good will with the fans but today’s reports have crashed all such good will for Henry.

Speaking to the media, Henry revealed that the redevelopment plans may not go as planned because of the tab on prices of tickets for the whole season.

It is revealed that Henry does not think that developing the main stand makes economical sense and that it may come back to bite them in the long term if they are not able to recoup the construction costs of the stand.

“I don’t know if there is a next step because ticket prices are an issue in England,” Henry said.

“That may foreclose further expansion. We’ll have to see,” he added.

These statements have seen the Liverpool fans vent their frustration about their owners, calling them greedy on social media outlet twitter.

Here are some of the best reactions that encapsulate the mood of the Liverpool fans:
