A mole within the dressing room is reportedly the real reason behind Mourinho’s latest attack on his players.
Under-fire Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho allegedly felt betrayed after a close source at his former club Porto revealed, they already knew the Portuguese boss’ team selection ahead of last week’s Champions League encounter against the Porto, according to a report from The Times.
It is suggested that Mourinho has strong evidence that long before the kick-off, Chelsea’s opponent Porto were aware of his decision to drop Cesc Fabregas for the Champions League match.
It’s a well-known fact that Special One runs into great lengths to keep his team selections top secret. Following Monday night’s frustrating defeat to Leicester Mourinho was furious: “I feel my work was betrayed. The top four is gone, clearly.”
Even his devastating comments created more problems within the confused dressing-room, as players turned on their boss and each other. Under-fire Mourinho later launched yet another attack on his flop players, accusing they have no passion left to play for Chelsea.
He said: “I feel frustrated with some and I feel others give absolutely everything. Some of them need to rethink the way they live Chelsea, they live football, they live their job.
“Chelsea is big, football is more than a job, it’s a passion.
“Every match on the pitch, you should live with an unbelievable passion.
“How many millions would love to be football players and they can’t be?
“You shouldn’t waste any minutes on the pitch, you should enjoy every minute and you should give absolutely everything.”
Defending champions Chelsea now surviving dangerously in 16th position, only one point above the relegation zone, following their ninth league defeat at Leicester on Monday and Mourinho is clinging on to his managerial post by his fingertips. Goals from Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez in each half were enough to take Claudio Ranieri’s men back to the league summit and leave Chelsea, who managed to pull one back thanks to Remy on 77 minutes, in a more dangerous position.
Club owner Abramovich is now considering axing Mourinho with Chelsea just one point clear of the relegation zone ahead of Saturday’s league match against Sunderland.
Former Holland coach Guus Hiddink has been approached for an interim job till the end of the season, a role he successfully carried out in 2009, if Mourinho is sacked. Former Tottenham and Real Madrid manager Juande Ramos also have been linked yesterday.
