Known for her killer looks than her football, Ana Markovic likes being called ‘World’s Most Beautiful’ footballer. Ana, a striker, represents Croatia Women’s National Team and at club level, currently plies her trade for Swiss Women’s Super League club Grasshopper. However, its not her football for which Ana Markovic is known for. She is often dubbed as the most beautiful footballer, with some of the media also preferring the word ‘sexiest’ in place of beautiful.
That’s the thing Ana doesn’t like as she has opened up on her struggles with unwanted attention and vile repercussions of being labelled as the ‘most sexiest’ footballer. Right from X-rated pics to people posing as fake managers for getting ‘what they want’. Ana has gone all through it as she opened up on the sexist comments as well as pictures she receives on her social media as a result of being branded as the ‘sexiest’.

“It’s really ugly” – Ana Markovic ‘pities’ those who ‘look at the outside’ and not her talent
Ana Markovic has become a victim of vile messages since being labelled as the ‘sexiest’ footballer. Its a no new trend since many like her have bee targeted. BBC presenter Emma Jones too recently had an encounter with online abusers who tagged her in X-rated pics and sent obscene messages. On being asked whether she would like to play for Chelsea, or become a model, Ana told The Sun:
“Definitely the contract with Chelsea of course! I liked the articles that called me the most beautiful footballer or one of the most beautiful because it makes me happy to hear that I am beautiful. But then newspaper articles appeared in which I was described as the sexiest footballer. I didn’t like that.
“After that, a lot of people wrote to me pretending to be managers, and I know exactly what they want from me. They’ve never seen me play football and only look at the outside. I find that a great pity. I think such people should find out more beforehand and see what I can do in terms of football.

“There are a few pictures like that, it’s really ugly. I don’t know why a person does something like that, but I just make fun of it with my colleagues. Sometimes funny messages come from people who write that they want to serve me and, for example, want to clean the cams of my soccer shoes after training.”
Ana Markovic has also been lauded in the past for speaking up for women footballers who face discrimination and such lewd comment and pictures on social media unlike the male footballers. While she boasts a massive fan following of 2.3 million followers on Instagram, as evident, she still dislikes being called as ‘sexiest’, which according to her sends a bad picture and invites unwanted situations for her.
