Manchester United’s newest squad member Bastian Schweinsteiger mentioned to the reporters that he is still fit enough to offer at the highest level and believes that there are title-winning quality players at Old Trafford.

The German midfielder maestro who will turn 31 this August had struggled with with injury concerns last season and started in 15 Bundesliga games for Bayern Munich. He had suffered the injury during the World Cup and never properly recovered. Thus, when he had moved to Premier League last week, several eye-brows were raised and people started doubting his ability to adapt with Premier League conditions.

German football legend and Bayern Munich’s honorary President, Franz Beckenbauer had publicly questioned Schweinsteiger’s abilities last week in front of the media. He suggested that a MLS move would have suited him more than Premier League.

Schweinsteiger finally spoke to media and said: I’m confident I can adjust to the Premier League. I am 30. It is a challenge for me, but I feel very good.

I had last year the thing with my knee after the World Cup, which was very intensive for me and I had a break at October. From that time on I had no injury, I was fit and felt fit at the end.

Of course sometimes when you are getting older you need a little more time for recovery, maybe half a day more than 20-year-old players, so that’s normal.

Now I feel great and I am ready to go. I want to make a positive impact and I think I can contribute a lot to the team.

I think I have a lot of experience, especially of the big matches and that is an advantage always. I want to add my quality to United’s game. When I see what we do in practice and the quality we have I am sure we have the chance to win titles. I am convinced about that.

Bastian Schweinsteiger has most definitely clarified himself and justified the decision he took. He might make his debut in United colourson Friday, when Manchester United are scheduled to take on Mexican side Club America in a pre-season friendly in Seattle.
