Indian sports making rapid progress and the solutions to improve it
The Indian sports are making great progress. India with 1.2 billion population must recognize the talent and give them training to make the country very proud. In cricket the Indians are performing well in age groups be it the Under 23, India A, senior team. This shows with backing of BCCI and nurture the youngsters who have been doing very well in the domestic trophy. I think the Champions Trophy win in England was a special victory for this team as nobody thought in the world that Dhoni can do this and become the first captain to win all the three ICC trophies.
With the advent of IPL cricket has become more popular, the young Indian talent who did not dream of playing with top players and get lot of money. As compared to other countries the Indian ODI team has won the highest number of ODI’s in 2013. In 2014 the performance of Indian team in test matches outside India has been disappointment. I think the improvement for the Indians to play on foreign conditions with bounce and pace, Tendulkar has since retired from ODI and test the BCCI has done well to bring the youngsters into and create a brilliant competition among each other.
Archery which is not popular sports in India as compared to China and other foreign countries, the women’s team comprising the star Deepika Kumari and other has defeated the Chinese and South Koreans yesterday in the world cups. The govt must take care that the women’s and men’s archery team must train hard and give the reason for the Indian fans to smile. The corporate must invest and arrange tournaments so that it can have status in the country. In the recently concluded Asian Games 2014 the compound team won the gold medal by beating South Korea.
The IBL which has become popular all over the country. The Indian youngsters are getting an opportunity to play with top ranked players from abroad . The likes HS Prannoy, Sourabh Verma, Praneeth, has done well in the international circuit. Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu in women’s category are making the country proud by winning various tournaments and giving a tough competition to the Chinese and other. These days the audiences in different venues are showing interest in the games and watching the matches, supporting exciting badminton. Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu and K Srikanth have done the country proud by winning medals at the international stage.
Hockey which is trying to revive the sport in India as compared to other countries like Australia, Germany, Korea, Spain. The HIL in 2013 was organized and the audiences in the different venues the stadiums were full and it gave an opportunity for the young Indian players to show their talent and get an exposure by playing with top international players who has a lot of experience and the youngsters can get tips from the international coaches at the top level.
The domestic tournaments in India needs re-structure. I think India to get back to status where it was few years ago the players must be provided with proper infrastructure and modern equipment. In the recently concluded Asian games 2014 Indian team won the Gold medal and got a direct entry into Rio Olympics 2016.
Squash is game where India has won medals at the Asian games 2014. Deepika Pallikal was a part of the team won the team event silver medal and in boys section Sourav Ghosal won the Gold medal in team event. In singles, Sourav Ghosal won the silver medal and Deepika Pallikal won the bronze medal. Wrestling is another sport where we winning medals at Olympics. Sushil Kumar has done it twice and Yogeshwar Dutt has done once.
I think the best way to improve the situation of Indian sports is that the government of India must provide proper grounds so that young players can practice and prepare well for the international events.
The youngsters who want to take sports as their career in life must be given encouragement and the state governments, different associations of India should recognize their talent. The grass-court level sports in India has to improve a lot, because different sports like Football, Basketball, Volleyball and other sports where the Indian team does not participate at the top level is big minus for the country.
The movies like ‘Chak De India’ based on hockey, Ferrari Ki Sawari, Patiala house on Cricket is big motivation for the young players in India. These movies inspire the youth by seeing these films will know how to realize their dreams and represent their countries.
As an die-hard fan of Indian sports I would love to see India not only dominate cricket but also other games so that they can become a sporting power on the map and show their skills, talent, tackle pressure , compete with other countries like China, USA, Japan.
I would love that the coverage of local sports and national level sports in India should be equal importance and give the audiences much needed information that they are not aware about it. Cricket is a religion in India and there are cricketing channels where the events from the international and domestic events from all over the world is given preference and the best way forward is give the coverage of those people or sportsperson whom the people are not aware and know more about it.
I think the film-stars who are investing on different sports is big plus of India. The corporates needs to take care that if the sports does not benefit the players it is waste of money but the IBL, HIL, IPL is the best example of that and I hope by promoting other games India can create sensation into sporting world.
The famous sportsperson especially in Cricket are given so much if they win a big tournament and the give a front-page story in newspaper. I think all the games must be treated equally so that they can play the game and make the country proud and happy.
