Indian Super League: All the facts you need to know – Part 1 

1) The announcement of the Indian Super League has impressed the world of Indian football fans very much. And after the announcement of the structure of the game, the players and the managers that have already been official for this tournament are even more impressive.

2) There will be eight teams battling to win the Indian Super League. The tournament will long for some three months. The style of playing is rumored to be just like the Indian Premier League cricket tournament.

3) Each team can have twenty two players in their squads which would contain ten foreign players, eight domestic Indian players and four Indian local players.

4) The franchises that have been official for this tournament are; Bangalore, Delhi, Goa, Guwahati, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune.

5) The franchise of Bangalore is owned by the Sun group. Sree Kanteerava Stadium has been announced as their official home venue. The stadium has the capacity of holding a crowd of 40,000.

6) The franchise of Delhi is owned by the DEN Networks. The Jawaharlal Nehru stadium of Delhi has been announced as their official home venue. The stadium has the capacity of holding a crowd of 60,000.

7) The franchise of Goa is owned by Dattaraj Salgaocar and Shrinivas V. Dempo. Fatorda Stadium has been announced as their official home venue. The stadium has the capacity of holding a crowd of 22,000.

8) The franchise of Guwahati is owned by John Abraham & Shillong Lajong F.C. Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium has been announced as their official home venue. The stadium has the capacity of holding a crowd of 30,000.

9) The franchise of Kochi is owned by Sachin Tendulkar & PVP Ventures. The Jawaharlal Nehru stadium of Kochi has been announced as their official home venue. The stadium has the capacity of holding a crowd of 75,000.

10) The franchise of Kolkata is owned by Sourav Ganguly, Harshavardhan Neotia, Atletico Madrid, Sanjeev Goenka, Utsav Parekh. The Salt Lake stadium aka Yuvabharati Krirangan has been announced as their official home venue. The stadium has the capacity of holding a record crowd of 120,000.

11) The franchise of Mumbai is owned by Ranbir Kapoor and Bimal Parekh. Cooperage Ground has been announced as their official home venue. The stadium has the capacity of holding a crowd of 10,000.

12) The franchise of Pune is owned by Salman Khan and Wadhawan Group. Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex has been announced as their official home venue. The stadium has the capacity of holding a crowd of 22,000.

13) All the cities except Kolkata were sold to the franchises for a 12 crore rupees per year basis for ten years. Only Kolkata was sold for 18 crore rupees as it turned out to be the most expensive franchise.
