Inevitable has happened as Sergio Ramos agrees a new 5-year deal with Real Madrid, will be announced on 23 August
If there were any section of the Manchester United fans still hoping for the astronomical Sergio Ramos to Old Trafford transfer going through, here is your cue to wake up from that dream. Earlier today, Marca reported a new 5-year deal being agreed between Sergio Ramos and Real Madrid.
Marca understands that Florentino perez’s showdown talks with the star defender was enough to convince him to end his career with Los Blancos as he is set to sign a contract up to the point when he turns 34-year old.
According to Marca, Ramos is set to take a huge pay cut in order to stay with the club. United were willing to offer Ramos an €11million-a-year contract while Real Madrid convinced Ramos to stay at a deal closer to €9m-a-year.
British media are blaming Ramos for toying with Manchester United and getting his new Real Madrid deal, while the thing is that the player and his agent had made it very clear that they were not happy with the offers put up by the Spanish side and wanted more, Real Madrid took their time in understanding the severity of the situation but when they did, they acted swiftly.
Not only they priced Ramos at a whopping €100million and put him beyond United’s reach and bought some valuable time to strike out a deal with the 29-year old defender. This has put an end to United’s pursuit of Sergio Ramos and now only time will tell if they go out and buy any other imposing yet price-effective central defender.
