Injury News: Wenger confirms this Arsenal trio to miss Chelsea game

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has reportedly revealed that highly-rated trio Olivier Giroud, Aaron Ramsey and Carl Jenkinson will miss the clash with Chelsea.

The trio is struggling with injuries and none have completed a full 90 minutes yet this term.

France international forward last night has come off the bench in three matches, however, not been risked from the start due to a niggling toe problem.

Aaron Ramsey had to be taken off during Gunners 4-3 defeat to Premier League opening day after tweaking his hamstring while Jenkinson is a long-term absentee with a knee injury and all of them have missed the clash with Nottingham Forest and won’t be also available for the clash against Chelsea.

Wenger said: “Everyone came out of the Hull game well.

“Giroud is still not available – we will see at the end of the week if he can join in [ahead of the Chelsea match].

“[Ramsey] is still out – I don’t think he will be ready for the weekend either.

“[Jenkinson] is improving, he is not quite back in full training yet.”

Arsenal face Chelsea in the Premier League before welcoming Basel to the Emirates in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger was delighted with summer signing Lucas Perez, who got his campaign up and running with a brace against Nottingham Forest in the third round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday (20 September).

It was only his second start since joining from Deportivo La Coruna in the summer after making his debut against Southampton in the Premier League.

The Arsenal forward scored a penalty to double Arsenal’s advantage after a Granit Xhaka screamer in the first-half, but it was his second goal that impressed Wenger after the striker used considerable strength to beat his marker before rounding the goalkeeper to find the net.

He also claimed an assist after setting up Arsenal’s fourth goal, which was scored by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to complete the 4-0 rout. The French manager, however, had one complaint following the game, which was the striker’s over-reliance on his left foot.

Apart from the Spaniard, the manager also praised Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chuba Akpom, Jeff Reine-Adelaide, and Ainsley Maitland-Niles for their performances against the Championship outfit. The last two were making their first competitive starts for the Gunners.
