Chelsea bagged 2 points agains FC Barcelona as the Blues defeat the Catalan giants 4-2 on penalty shootout. Eden Hazard scored the opening goal of the match in the 10th minute as he dribbled past 5 defenders and scored an eye catching goal. The Barcelona defenders failed to put up any resistance in front of the Belgian as he went past elegantly and found the back of the net.
Chelsea fielded their first team almost as only John Terry and Willian were missing from the starting lineup. Barcelona on the hand fielded a team filled with youngsters. Only Luis Suarez was the notable name in the first XI.
FC Barcelona controlled the game after they conceded the early goal. Munir El Haddadi started from the right side and was a mere spectacle on the field. Suarez also got great support Sandro Ramirez on the left side. Chelsea played a counter-attack based game and imposed threat occassionally on the Barcelona defense
The teams went into the lemon break with the scoreboard showing Chelsea 1-0.
Barcelona finally equalised six minutes into the second half as Luis Suarez showed crafty skills inside the penalty box and lobbed the ball over the defenders and Thibaut Courtois. Kurt Zouma made a valiant effort to make a goal line save but all in vain.
Sandro Ramirez scored the second goal of the match with a screamer of a shot. He ran down the left flank and took a curling shot which went past Courtois.
Radamel Falcao came out as a substitute in the second half. John Terry too was fielded to strengthen the defense. Gary Cahill scored the equalising goal in 85th from a header as second half substitute custodian Jordi Masip made a blunder. Cahill scored the goal but in the process hurt his nose.
In the penalty shooutout Halilovic and Gerard Pique missed penalties as Chelsea sealed the 4-2.
