NorthEast United and Mumbai City played to avoid the bottom place. The draw in the previous game has taken Atletico de Kolkata into the final four and all spots are occupied and this game was nothing but a dead rubber. It was also the last game in the league.

NorthEast United made three changes for the game as they replaced Felipe de Crasto, James Keene and Seminlen Doungel for Tomas Josl, Boithang Haokip and Koke. Mumbai City FC made two changes as Raju Gaikwad and Sushil Kumar came in for the injured duo Syed Nabi and Nicolas Anelka.

Koke gave NorthEast United the lead from the penalty spot in the 34th minute of the game. Deepak Mondal is booked as he vociferously protests to the referee after bringing down Tomas Josl inside the box. Koke steps up and converts into the left corner.

Mumbai City’s Deepak Mondal and Tiago combine down the right with the former delivering a cross towards Abhishek inside the box but Rehenesh leaps higher to quell the MCFC attack.

Koke made no mistake and gained the lead.

Mumbai City made two substitutions at half time as Deepak Mondal and Subrata Paul are replaced by Lalrin Fela and Andre Preto.

Mumbai City struggled for most of the match but were finally rewarded in the 84th minute as Sushil Singh scored the equalizer. Mumbai had a corner which is taken quickly and the ball comes to Stohanzl whose cross is headed in by Sushil Singh.

Both teams had very near opportunities to score the winner in the ending minutes but none could finish it. NorthEast United FC end their campaign at the bottom of the table and Mumbai City finish just above them.
