Italian giants want star Arsenal midfielder to sign pre-contract in January 1

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal were held to a drab draw by Middlesbrough at the Emirates last weekend as their 8-match winning streak early this season was finally halted.

They did come back with a League Cup victory over Reading to reach the quarter final of the tournament and will hope to go all the way this season.

But the club has been linked with a move for a couple of players in January which might see a few players leave the club in months to come

One such player who might be on his way out of the club by the end of the season is Spanish international Santi Cazorla.

The 31-year old came into the side after the first few games of the season and has not become an integral part of the squad this campaign. It is safe to say that Arsenal missed his services in the draw at the weekend where Cazorla was absent due to an Achilles injury he picked up earlier this month.

However, he is in the final year of his contract at the club and will be without one at the end of the season and there is no talk of a contract extension with the Gunners recently.

Arsene Wenger spent on Granit Xhaka in the off-season to strengthen his squad which leaves Francis Coquelin, Aaron Ramsey, and Mohamed El Neny as the other options in midfield for the manager.

And reports from Calciomercato now suggest that Italian giants Juventus are desperate for his signature at the end of the season if Cazorla is not offered a new contract before that time.

Juventus are desperate for a midfield addition after the loss of Paul Pogba and the likes of Oscar from Chelsea are also scouted as his replacement next summer.

But it is now understood that the Turin outfit are ready to pounce on the Arsenal midfielder and are holding talks to try and get him to sign a pre-contract with the club in January.

Having played 129 games since his move to the club back in 2012, Cazorla has grown on to be an impact player for the side in the last few seasons but he has not been able to keep himself fit and put in a constant performance to warrant a new contract at the Emirates.

Arsene Wenger is still in search of a midfielder who can replace Cazorla in the squad and would have ideally wanted to wait till after the January transfer window to decide on his future.

But with the Italian champions knocking on the door, Wenger will have to take a decision quickly and offer him a new contract if he wants him to stay at the club.

Do you think Wenger can afford to let Cazorla go on a free next summer?
