The attention on Wilshere’s off-field activities may be a bit too harsh but Wilshere is getting caught in these smoking rows a bit too much for his liking. Jack Wilshere has found himself at the center of yet another smoking controversy, this time Wilshere is pictured holding a shisha pipe.
Jack Wilshere’s recent controversy has seen the Arsenal fans losing their patience with the England International player. Many of the Arsenal fans are asking for Wilshere to be sold and buy someone who has his head on the game and can stay fit for an entire season.
Wilshere was pictured holding a shisha pipe in a London nightclub with three yoing women. The picture was subsiquently brought down from Instagram amid violent response from the Arsenal fans.
We are yet to hear from Arsene Wenger on the matter who had previously called for Wilshere to improve his antics off the pitch and get a hold on his smoking issues. Arsene Wenger reminded Jack Wilshere of his responsibilities towards the football club in a rather indirect message after his first smoking incidence.
Wenger said: “Players here are judged on their performances. Ideally, the best way to have a high level of performance as possible is to follow the rules that allow you to perform,”
“Human beings are human beings, with their strengths and weaknesses. We know this is not good. Overall, these players are professional.
“Wilshere was on holiday, You cannot control the players on holiday.”
Jack Wilshere had previously cleared the air on his smoking pictures stating his regret over the decision. Wilshere said: “The smoking? Of course I regret it. I have been seen before doing it. I said then I made a mistake and I have made a mistake again. People make mistakes.
“I am young and I will learn from it. I realise the consequences it has and the effect on kids growing up.
“I have kids myself and I don’t want them growing up to think their dad smokes and it is OK for a footballer to smoke, because it’s not. It is unacceptable and I will accept the consequences and I will move on.”
Question that begs to be asked here is that why a player of Wilshere’s calliber is throwing his career up in the smoke by these off-field activities? It is understood that Wilshere will be fined a hefty fee for his recent smoking row but is the fine enough for a player who earns £1,00,000-a-week?
