If reports surfacing in Spain are to be trusted then James Rodriguez will soon be donning the blue colours of Chelsea football club.

Real Madrid bought James in 2014 for 60 million pounds after a terrific world cup campaign where he led his team to the quarter-finals where Colombia were ultimately defeated at the hands of Brazil. James has been a good fit for the Los Blancos scoring 13 goals in 23 games and also providing 13 assists. But this season has been a complete foil of his previous escapades. Sidelined with an injury saw him being left out of Benitez’s starting 11. This has soured things between the boss and James and rightly so because the midfielder would want more game time. James has played only 6 games this season for Real Madrid and has scored on 3 occasions.

James’s patchy relationship with Benitez works in favour of the Blues who need to sign replacements for their out of form players. And James seems to be the perfect replacement for the ex-Catalan midfielder Cesc Fabregas. Cesc Fabregas has had an unforgettable season so far which saw Mourinho drop him from the starting line up on Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Porto which the Blues won convincingly by 2 goals.

James had signed a six-year deal when he joined the Santiago Bernabeu outfit but if the conditions don’t improve and Benitez continues to bench the Colombian, then the player would look for his options abroad and a move to the Premier League might just be fruitful. The rumour of Rodriguez’s potential move to Chelsea is yet another addition to transfer rumours involving Madrid superstars and the EPL. Recently Ronaldo and Bale have been linked with the Red Devils and if the move comes to be we might witness yet another transfer saga which can break records like it happened with these two the first time around.
