Jamie Carragher admits that Luis Suarez is still giving him sleepless nights
Former Liverpool player and idol Jamie Carragher has a little job of managing a side of 11 players to go up against Steven Gerrard’s all-star XI for a charity game organised by the Liverpool football club on March 29.
This match is also seen as the perfect send-off for Gerrard as a Liverpool player as all of his previous best friends have agreed to play in this all-star match which can be tipped as the testimonial match for Steven Gerrard.
Perhaps that is the reason why Gerrard has gone and selected a rather unbeatable side for himself. Gerrard will team up with likes of John Terry, Xabi Alonso, Fernando Torres, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and Liverpool cult hero Luis Suarez.
Both Carragher and Gerrard went one by one in picking their team. The most surprise inclusion was Brad Jones as the goalkeeper for Gerrard’s team. For Jones’ selection, Gerrard claimed that he wanted to stay loyal to his current players.
Both Liverpool legends shared a light moment while picking their teams. Gerrard selected John Terry by claiming that Terry is the best English defender he has played with only to see Carragher take a swipe at the Chelsea skipper by saying “he cudn’t run” following Chelsea’s exit to the hands of PSG.
For Jamie Carraghaer however, the biggest worry is front three for Gerrard’s side. Torres, Henry and Suarez, in particular the recently departed Uruguayan striker who has gained his form back for Barcelona.
Carragher admitted to have nightmares thinking how he would cope against the speed and trickery of Suarez. Carragher can turn to Didier Drogba, Luis Garcia, Dirk Kuyt and Craig Bellemy for help as these would line up for Carragher’s side when these two sides meet on 29th March to host a memorable game in the city of Liverpool.
