Jamie Vardy Breaks Silence, Insists He Had Nothing To Do In Ranieri Sacking
Football fans were taken aback this week when news of Claudio Ranieri’s sacking began to filter through early this week.
Almost immediately after the news broke, rumours of a players revolt began to circulate online, with suggestions that a cartel of senior players forced Ranieri out of the club.
Such stories were given a great deal substance when The Times reported Kasper Schmeichel, Wes Morgan, Marc Albrighton and Jamie Vardy had met with Leicester City owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, following their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sevilla in the Champions League.
Although it wasn’t explicitly stated that the players involved led a heave against the popular manager, The Times believe they were asked “for their observations on the team’s decline from last season’s Premier League triumph”.
However, in a statement published on his Instagram account, Jamie Vardy has denied being part of any revolt against the manager, describing any such accusations as being “completely untrue, unfounded” and “extremely hurtful”.
Read the full statement below.
I must have written and deleted my words to this post a stupid amount of times! I owed Claudio to find the right and appropriate words! Claudio has and always will have my complete respect! What we achieved together and as a team was the impossible! He believed in me when many didn’t and for that I owe him my eternal gratitude. There is speculation I was involved in his dismissal and this is completely untrue, unfounded and is extremely hurtful! The only thing we are guilty of as a team is underachieving which we all acknowledge both in the dressing room and publicly and will do our best to rectify. I wish Claudio the very very best in whatever the future holds for him. Thank You Claudio for everything.
