Manchester City have been one of the biggest spenders in the transfer window in the Premier League this season.
Pep Guardiola, the new manager has brought in the likes of Nolito, Ilkay Gundogan, and John Stones in big money transfers and has added plenty of quality and depth to the City squad from the last season.
However, with around 3 weeks left in the transfer window, the manager will now have to try and get rid of a player who will not make the cut at the club next season.
One such rumor that is doing the rounds today is Manchester City’s interest in Barcelona’s Mar Andre Ter Stegen.
The German international was a part of the Catalan club over the last two years but has not been comfortable with his place in the side.
He was exclusively used for cup games and was unsettled at the club last summer. The likes of Liverpool were linked with a move for him but his price scared the Merseyside outfit away.
However, it is now revealed that Pep Guardiola wants to add the German to the squad at the Etihad and this has put the current no.1 Joe Hart’s future at the club in jeopardy.
The English international is easily one of the most consistent keepers in the Premier League over the last few seasons. He has established himself at the Etihad and has always been an influence at the back for the side in important games.
But his performances in the EUROs understandably have dented his confidence and it is revealed that Guardiola is yet to decide who will start in the club’s first Premier League game next season.
In more ways than one, Ter Stegen has now emerged as a proper fit for the Etihad outfit with the manager wanting to get his hands on a sweeper keeper. Joe Hart is a good shot stopper but he is not the kind of a keeper who is comfortable playing short passes under pressure.
Ter Stegen has thrived in such a style at Barcelona and may be on his way to Manchester City this summer leaving Joe Hart and Willy Cabellero as the two back-ups for the German.
Do you think Joe Hart will leave City this summer?
