John Terry to miss Chelsea’s clash against Hull City

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has confirmed that the Blues will face Premier League newcomers Hull City without their captain John Terry.

The 35-year old has been the pivot for the Blues defense this season but has suffered an ankle injury in their 2-2 draw against Swansea City at Liberty Stadium three weeks ago. Initially, he was expected to be out for two weeks as he hoped to be fit for the London derby.

But the former English international has suffered a minor setback in his recovery in the training at Cobham ahead of the London derby that has delayed his return date.

Manager Conte has confirmed about the unavailability of John Terry in the pre-match press conference as Blues look to get back to winning ways after losing to Liverpool and Arsenal in their last two Premier League games.

“No, he isn’t available,” Conte said of Terry. “He hasn’t recovered from his injury in his ankle. I think we can see him after the international break.”

The Blues defense looked discipline less in the absence of John Terry as Gary Cahill and David Luiz was partnered in the central defense. Chelsea have let in five goals in both the games which has not helped their cause of challenging for the Premier League title this season under Antonio Conte.

The manager has also confirmed midfielder John Obi Mikel will also miss the trip to Hull due to muscular problems while he expects others to make it to the trip.

“Mikel has a small muscular problem,” Conte added. “The others, no [injuries]. We have all the other players available.”

The Blues have to win three points against Hull City as the club are in huge pressure of delivering as they are now in the eighth position in the Premier League table. Hull City will also hope to gain at least a point after their impressive start to the season.
