Former Chelsea captain, John Terry rejected an offer to join Spartak Moscow on a one-year contract and explained the reason behind it on social media.
John Terry is now without a club since leaving Aston Villa.
Terry, who was scheduled to participate in a charity match on Saturday to fly to Rome to undergo a medical and finalise the details of the move to Russia has changed his mind. On his official Instagram,, he posted a statement which says,
“After considerable thought, I have decided to decline a contract offer from Spartak Moscow. I would like to take the opportunity to thank Spartak. And I wish them and their supporters well for the rest of the season. They are an ambitious club, and I have been very impressed with their professionalism. But after assessing this move with my family, we’ve decided this is not the right move for ourselves at this time. Good luck Spartak.”

According to reports, Terry was offered a tax-free deal for one year worth in the region of £3 million. Since leaving Aston Villa, he has been without a club. However, the 37-year old defender is not ready to retire yet.
Aston Villa, who made 35 appearances for the club last season now hopes to resign the Chelsea legend. The side has reached the Championship play-off final before losing to Fulham.
Last year, Terry rejected three offers from MLS sides. LA Galaxy, New York Red Bulls and Orlando City that were interested in signing the defender.
Now after John Terry has rejected the offer of Spartak Moscow, Chelsea are planning to hand him an emotional return to Stamford Bridge to start his coaching career.
