Blow to Chelsea: Star player set to join Qatar club
The 34 year old Chelsea centre-back, John Terry could possibly be shown the door at Chelsea. Terry previously signed a one year contract extension in summer but it seems pretty unlikely that the deal could be renewed. Since the renewal looks far from happening, Qatari club has showed its interest in the London born player.
The Daily Mirror reports that former Chelsea player Zola wants Terry to join the club from July. Zola took up the managerial job at the Middle East club in this summer. The gaffer is already scouting players and Terry happens to be on the top of his recruitment list.
The move is surely going to be lucrative as it aims to stimulate the progress of the sport in the region ahead of the 2022 World Cup. Terry’s addition to the Qatari football would be massive and definitely gain fame in the league.
Since 1998, Terry has made 466 appearances for Chelsea and netted 39 goals for the club. The defender possesses a pass success rate of 90.5 in the Premier League which is immensely commendable. His strengths include clean passing and his weaknesses comprise of poor tackling skills. Terry loves to play short passes and prefers not diving into tackles.
The move to Qatar seems realistic as the English club has shown no signs of a renewal to his current deal. Apart from Middle East, clubs from China and USA have also shown their interest in the former England International. Turkish giants Fenerbahce seem to be targeting him as well. We cannot confirm as to which club would Terry join but his exit from the Stamford Bridge looks highly likely
