John Terry signs a new one year deal at Stamford Bridge
It is a delight for Chelsea football club to announce that John Terry has just signed a new one-year deal with the London giants.
Many Chelsea fans showed their love for Terry by requesting him to stay after their final league game with Leicester City at the Stamford Bridge, a meeting was then arranged between the player, the newly appointed manager Antonio Conte, and Chelsea board to decide the future of John Terry at Chelsea. Finally, a decision has been made and Terry will stay for one more year with the Blues.
‘I am delighted to sign a new contract with the club. Everyone knows I’m Chelsea through and through.
‘I am looking forward to next season under the new manager and hopefully, we can make it a successful one.
‘Also, a special mention to the fans for their continued support. You’re the best in the world.’ – Terry quoted.
With this agreement, Terry will be completing his 22nd year of stay with the London club. He signed for Chelsea when he was just 14 years of old and has made a total of 703 first team appearances since then, which is recorded as the third most in the club’s history. Out of those 703 appearances, 570 were as a captain.
According to ChelseaFC Bruce Buck, the Chelsea Chairman said: ‘We are delighted John will spend another year at the club. He has been the leader of the Chelsea squad throughout the most successful period in our history. He recently reached the 700-appearance mark, which is testament to his professionalism and dedication as well as his undoubted talent.’
Marina Granovskaia, the Director also added: ‘We look forward to another year with John at the club, and believe he will be an important figure in the dressing room and on the pitch as we look to bring success back to the club next season.’
After his debut at the club, back in 1998, Terry has won so many trophies here at Chelsea, which includes one Champions League, four English Premier League titles, five FA Cups along with three league cups.
It is a great and proud moment for the Chelsea fans, as now they won’t feel the pain of losing a club legend, like the way the felt when Frank Lampard left.
