Manchester United manager had reportedly rejected a chance to return to Santiago Bernabeu to manage Real Madrid after getting sacked by Chelsea last season.
Jose Mourinho: Up close and personal’, which is being serialised by The Daily Mail, claims that the Portuguese manager was wanted by Real Madrid hierarchy during last season when they were ready to sack Rafa Benitez.
The Real Madrid president Florentino Perez was in contact with the Portuguese manager in an attempt the lure Mourinho back to Madrid. However, Mourinho have decided to move to Manchester United instead in the summer after taking a few months leave after his sabbatical at Chelsea.
The 53-year old have previously managed Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013 and helped them win a La Liga title and a Copa Del Rey during his reign. Incidentally, that was the only league title Real Madrid has won in the last seven years.
The author of the biography and famous journalist Rob Beasly claims that he has received an email from Jose Mourinho which read: ‘President [Perez] loves me and wanted me to go and clean it, clean s**t people like Pepe, Casillas, Ramos, Marcelo. I told him it’s too late.’
Mourinho since then had taken the managerial role at Manchester United and have made some outstanding signings in the summer in an attempt to put back Manchester United in Europe’s elite which they have not managed since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.
He had a decent start to the life at Old Trafford as he looks to be the right man to lead the club forward in the coming years. Jose Mourinho would be keen to build a team to beat at Manchester United as the club are now filled with excellent attacking talent.
Real Madrid went on to offer Zinedine Zidane the manager role at the club after Jose Mourinho deciding to snub them.
