Juan Mata is currently in Spain enjoying his holidays during the off-season. During his Spanish stay, Mata was interviewed by Marca where the playmaker dropped a major hint David De Gea leaving the club next season.
De Gea and Mata are table tennis partners and when asked about the prospect of losing his table tennis partner, Mata said he wants his friend to be happy but would want De Gea to be in his team.
Mata was questioned on feeling as an Englishman after spending 5 years playing in the Premier League on which the crafty player responded by saying that, he still feels as a Spanish but stressed on trying to adapt to life in England.
Mata was even asked about the possibilities of joining Real Madrid as Rafa Benitez is the new Real Madrid manager for whom he played his football at Chelsea. Responding to that, Mata said he recognizes what Benitez did with him but claimed that the Spanish manager is good enough to bring the best out of any player.
Juan Mata went on to discuss the several managers he has played for, including Ronald Koeman (Valencia), Vicente Del Bosuqe (Spain), Andres Villa Boas and Rafa Benitez (Chelsea) and then David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal at Manchester United.
Mata showed respect and appreciation for all the wise men, he has had chance to play for and vows to get better in the upcoming seasons.
