Julian Draxler has finally revealed the reason behind his decision to snub Arsenal in favour of Paris Saint-Germain.
The Germany international was heavily linked with the Gunners for quite some time and speculations were rife that the English giants would make a move for the midfielder after he publicly expressed his desire of Wolfsburg. However, the French moneybags won the race to sign the FIFA World Cup-winning midfielder and announced on Tuesday that the 23-year-old had signed a four-year deal at the Parc des Princes.

Draxler, who was reportedly hesitating to decide between Arsenal and PSG, has now revealed why he chose to move to the French capital. The Germany star said that PSG’s penchant for signing big players in recent years played a big role in making up his mind.
“It is with great joy and anticipation that I join Paris Saint-Germain,” Draxler said after signing his contract.
“For the first time in my career, I’m going to discover a new country, a new league, and I’m very proud to take this new step at a club which has become a benchmark in Europe and has signed a lot of great players in recent years.
“I will do everything to help PSG win new trophies and continue to grow internationally.”
PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi also welcomed the new signing.
He said:“I am delighted to welcome Julian Draxler to the Paris Saint-Germain family.
“The transfer of this highly sought after Germany international reconfirms just how attractive our Club is to the world’s most talented players. He has all the qualities to play a major role in the Club’s project and become a fan favourite.”
“With the signature of Julian Draxler, we are maintaining PSG’s extremely high ambitions, where all our supporters want us to see their club succeed,” he added.
The transfer will be a huge blow for the Gunners who are trying hard to tie down Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. The future of both the players is in jeopardy and the North London outfit is reportedly looking for options to replace them.
