Jurgen Klopp Blasts Liverpool After Hull City Defeat
A furious Jurgen Klopp has blasted his players after they suffered another humiliating loss at Hull City.
After a tough few weeks, The Reds had got the much-needed boost with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Premier League leaders Chelsea, but they failed to carry on the momentum at the KCOM stadium as Marco Silva’s resurgent side defeated them 2-0.
With Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino in the starting eleven, Liverpool dominated the possession right from the start but the failure to make it count cost them dearly. The home team took the lead when Alfred N’Diaye, signed on loan from Villarreal, capitalised on a mistake from Simon Mignolet just before the half-time. The home team consistently threatened on counters and were finally paid for their good display when Oumar Niasse scored the second goal six minutes from time.
The defeat extended Liverpool’s win-less run and they are now 13 points shy of Chelsea and face a fight to hold onto a top four spot.
As expected, Klopp was not happy to see another dismal performance from his team, who were considered as a prime title contenders not very long ago.
Speaking after the game, he said:
“In this moment obviously it was not enough. The first half for sure was not enough. We gave both goals away.
“We played completely different against Chelsea, 4 days later you play like we played it makes no sense. It’s just not acceptable.
“In the second half we had a lot of possession but what’s possession? Possession is only possession when you do something different.
“The game has to wake us up. It’s not acceptable. I have a few thoughts right now but I cannot say them. I’ve done so many interviews. Usually you feel better when you are speaking. This time it does not feel better,” he concluded.
