New Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has not ruled out signing players during the upcoming January transfer window. Former Borussia Dortmund man has not found the squad balance he was seeking before his arrival at Anfield. That has led Klopp in making claims of bringing in reinforcements in January.

Injuries have played a big part in Klopp’s decision making. Since his arrival, he has seen Danny Ings and Joe Gomez ruled out for the season, while Daniel Sturridge is still struggling with injuries. One gets the feeling that If Klopp wants to have a solid season, he will need to bring in players in January.

Interestingly, Klopp agrees with the idea as well. He said: “The January transfer window is not the perfect one because you have no time to train. You pick a player, put him on the pitch and say, ‘Come on, show your best performance’. But if we need, we will do [transfers]. No problem.

“I don’t know what will happen in January, if we have more injuries it will be important, of course. But at this moment, there’s no decision. I think six weeks is not enough to judge [the players]. I know in this world we judge after one second sometimes. If you want to develop things you have to wait for steps, that’s normal.

Klopp has been linked with a move with many of his former Dormund players but he clearly mentioned that he does not have the mentality of signing 10 players in one go. He said: “I’m not the guy who buys 10 players today and sells 10 players tomorrow because we want to work together.

“If we have a good idea, we try to bring it on the pitch, and that needs time. I believe in training, sometimes I feel I’m the only one in this country who believes in training, only others believe in transfers. I love this game because training can make the difference.”

Liverpool travel to Etihad Stadium this weekend, and it promises to be Klopp’s biggest test since moving to Liverpool. With players sidelines, he will have to do a remarkable job to pull off a win against Manchester City.

With Liverpool boss promising signings in January, Manchester United and City, Arsenal and Chelsea must react in the transfer window to strengthen their teams. Liverpool have games with all of the big teams in the second half at their home Anfield and they must improve to better their squads.
