Alisson Becker’s career with Liverpool started on the best possible way, as the Champions League finalists thrashed Napoli 5-0 in the International Champions Cup clash.
Liverpool thrashed Napoli 5-0 in Alisson Becker’s debut match.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was really pleased with Alisson after his performance in the debut match. He played the full 90 minutes and ended up getting a clean sheet in his debut match. In the post-match press conference, Klopp said,
“He’s quite a good footballer — probably as good as the goalie he is. An all-round good performance for the first game. Especially because I think everyone can imagine what happens inside a human being in a situation like that, playing the first game after all the things that were written about it and all that stuff.”

Jurgen Klopp also said he was delighted with the win against a strong Napoli and added and his new goalkeeper, Alisson Becker was aware of all the situations.
“Playing against Napoli, it was the strongest side we played so far, 100 percent. They had nearly a full squad here, and it can look completely different. We involved him a lot in our build up, but we need to get used to that a little bit more still — that’s clear [and] he needs to get used to it a little bit more, but there were a lot of good build-up situations, so that helps. But at the end, he’s there to catch balls. He did that in all the decisive moments today, so I’m really pleased.”
The Brazil international joined Liverpool from Roma for £65 million last month, and that made him the most expensive goalkeeper in the history of football. With this price tag, the Liverpool fans will be expecting a lot from the 25-year old goalkeeper.
Liverpool will play their first match in the Premier League against West Ham on 12th August.
