Jurgen Klopp Delivers Big Update On Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Links 1

Quashing the reports linking Liverpool with a move for Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jurgen Klopp has said that the rumours are ‘nonsense’.

The Reds were reportedly planning to make an audacious bid for the Arsenal winger who is struggling to get enough first-time action at the Emirates. The former Southampton ace He has scored 6 goals and has registered as many assists this term but is yet to complete 90 minutes this season.  As a result, he has grown frustrated at the club and the Reds were willing to cash in on the situation.  With Sadio Mane set to leave for African Cup of Nations duty after Liverpool’s Premier League game with Sunderland on January 2, the Arsenal forward was linked with a move to the Anfield. The Telegraph had reported the Merseyside outfit needed to pay between £20 million to £25 million to sign the 23-year old.

However, Klopp has totally dismissed the rumours and has insisted the Reds will not make a move for Oxlade-Chamberlain in the upcoming transfer window.

“Usually, I don’t say anything about transfer rumours, but I can make an exception. This is nonsense,” said Klopp.

Liverpool are currently second in the table, six points adrift of table-toppers Chelsea and are performing really well currently but injury and absence of Mane in January might hamper their promising title challenge. Philippe Coutinho, who suffered an ankle injury last month, has still not recovered and is likely to remain on the sidelines for quite a few days. Danny Ings has already been ruled out of the entire season leaving the club really depleted in attacking option. Furthermore, Joel Matip is also sidelined with an injury which might force the Reds to look for new players in January.

Klopp has already admitted that his team can make a surprise move in January and considering the current situation, it is quite likely that they will be keen to sign new players in the upcoming transfer window.
