After Liverpool’s thumping 3-1 win over Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp laughed off at a journalist, who asked him if Liverpool will now challenge for the league title. Ramires scored early for the home side from a sublime cross from Cesar Azpilicueta before Brazilain star Philippe Coutinho scored two absolutely stunning goals and Christain Benteke added a third after coming on from the bench to seal the win for the Reds.
Oh please. Are you crazy?” he said.
“I’ve been here three weeks, round about. You think after one win at Chelsea we should think about this?
“We don’t think about this. We have to think about the next game, about improving our game and our style. We can do much better than today.”
Many feel Lucas Leiva should have been sent off after a foul on John Obi Mikel, but the referee didn’t show him a second yellow card, but Klopp says he was not sure if it was a foul.
On the Lucas challenge, Klopp said: “If you think in England, where many situations are sometimes a little bit strange when nobody uses the whistle… in a situation like this, was it a sure yellow card? I’m not sure it was a foul.
“But if you want to win at Chelsea, you need a little bit of luck. Maybe in this situation we had a little bit of luck.
“Nobody knows if they would win with 10 against 11. It’s not guaranteed.”
Another defeat for Jose Mourinho’s side has left them with just 11 points from 11 games and a sixth defeat of the season in the Premier League. Meanwhile, things have started to look a bit brighter for Liverpool under Klopp and they will now be hoping to mount a challenge for a top four finish.
