Jurgen Klopp’s first press conference after his arrival as the manager of Liverpool has taken place.

A much-anticipated press conference it was and the German charismatic manager did not disappoint the journalists as he described himself as the ‘Normal one’.

Here are the quotes from his first Liverpool FC press conference-

“I have to say sorry for my English. For a few days I have known that I’d be back in the race. It’s biggest honour I can imagine.”

“It’s a good moment to come here and I feel very proud. It’s how the people here live football. It’s a special club.”

Chief executive Ian Ayre said, “When we started the search important we found someone to bring success to the club & take on the ambition. He ticks all those boxes.”

Then Klopp again carried on.

“Players have to think they can reach the expectations of all the press and the fans. You need to change from doubter to believer,” he said.

Klopp also said another huge thing every Liverpool fan would have wanted to hear, “Crazy discussion (about transfer committee). It was not a problem for 10 secs. I have the first and the last word on transfers.”

“I’m a football romantic. I love all the stories. Anfield is one of the best places in the football world.”

“First time I came here (with Dortmund) I wondered what it would be like (to manage this club). I am a lucky guy.”

“This is a great club with a good team. There is a lot of potential. Everything is there. Let’s start a new way. It’s perfect moment.”

He also said that he wants Liverpool to play emotional football.

“We will start to play very emotional football. That’s very important at Anfield.”

He also described himself as the “Normal One’ when asked to give himself a name like Mourinho called himself as the ‘Special One”

“I don’t want to describe myself. Does anyone in this room think I can do wonders? I’m a normal guy. I’m the normal one.”

“I’ve heard a lot about the English press, it’s up to you to show me that they are all liars.”

“It would be nice to stop taking photos of me when I move from one side of hotel room to the other. Let’s concentrate on football.”

“I am 48. Over past four months I’ve played a lot of tennis. I had a good feeling when FSG contacted me. They are cool guys.”

“Yes it’s surreal. I woke up this morning as manager of Liverpool FC. I am prepared for this from my experience at other clubs.”

“Please give us time to work on it. Please be patient. I don’t say we have to wait 20 years, in 4 years I hope to win one title.”

“I’m not here just because LFC was calling. I believe in the potential of this team. Everything is there. Now we need to work.”

“It’s cool that you are really looking forward to the coming years with me. I don’t think about being legend here. I work in present”
