Kane is most complete no. 9 in World Football – Les Ferdinand
Former English player Les Ferdinand believes Harry Kane is the “most complete” No. 9 in world football.
Kane has scored six goals in the 2018 World Cup so far.
The Spurs frontman, who has remained prolific at club level over recent years, is currently chasing down World Cup glory with his country. Kane’s six efforts in Russia have helped England into the quarter-finals. They will face Sweden in the quartar-finals.
His performances in front of a global audience have proved to Ferdinand that the 24-year-old is an elite talent has every reason to believe that he can re-write the history books
Ferdinand told Goal:
“Harry Kane is up there with the best strikers in the world right now. There are very few better as he has it all – he scores with his right foot, left foot and head. He is probably the most complete No. 9 out there. If he stays free of injury then he could be the one to break Alan’s record.”
Chasing down domestic records must wait for now, with Kane’s focus at present locked on international matters. Ferdinand added on England’s chances of securing a first senior title since 1966.
“England have done what they’ve needed to do in this World Cup so far. They will never have a better opportunity to win the World Cup in my lifetime,” he said.
Once the action in Russia comes to a close, attention can be switched to the 2018-19 Premier League campaign. Kane will be among those expected to lead the scoring charts once again. He won the Golden Boot last season.
Few days ago, Liverpool’s Mohammad Salah has signed a new five-year deal with the reds. He was up against Kane in the race of golden boot.
Ferdinand said of the Egyptian forward and his chances of replicating a remarkable 44-goal haul from 2017-18:
“To be called a great striker you have to be able to produce performances week in, week out. Mo Salah had a fantastic season last year, repeating that this coming season will be tough but he’s more than capable. Mo has now signed a new contract at Liverpool and at this moment think this is the right move for him,” he concluded.
