Klopp to move in for Italian to solve left-back problems at the club

Liverpool are in desperate need of a left-back going into the next season with the first choice Alberto Moreno not able to impress the manager in his first season in England.

The likes of Ben Chilwell and Jonas Hector were scouted as possible replacements for the Spaniard in the first team and Jurgen Klopp was convinced that they would solve the problems at Anfield in that position.

But deals for both players fell through and has left the Liverpool manager search elsewhere for a quality personnel who fits into his style.

So it is no surprise that the club is still linked with a move for more players. AC Milan’s full-back Mattia de Sciglio is reportedly now high on the transfer wishlist for Klopp at Anfield.

Mattia-De-Sciglio

The 23-year old moved to Milan back in 2011 and has ever since established himself as a regular right back for the club making 104 appearances to date for the club.

He has also grown into a place in the Italian national team and has already registered 26 caps for the country.

Though he is a right back by trait, he is more than comfortable on either side of the defense and is a player who will surely suit Klopp’s style of play.

He is a definite upgrade on the Spaniard in the time and with Liverpool desperate, it looks like Klopp will make a move for the youngster in the coming days.

He is expected to cost around the £16m mark and Liverpool have reportedly made an approach at the said price. However, they will have to battle it out with Italian giants Napoli, who are also looking to add to their defense this summer.

At his age, De Sciglio is potentially a top-class player and has the potential to grow on to become one of the best in his position but it is to be seen if he can continue his progress even after a move to the Premier League.

He will get enough game time at Liverpool under Klopp if he moves to England and if he can buy into Klopp’s philosophy, he can become an important part of the Liverpool squad in years to come.

Do you think Liverpool should sign their 23-year old target this summer?
