La Liga President Javier Tebas has announced that the league’s first El Clasico this season between Real Madrid and Barcelona will take place on 28th October at Camp Nou, Barcelona in Spain.
The most anticipating clash will begin at 16.15 CET. Before facing each other, Real Madrid will face Viktoria Plzen at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday while another ace club Barcelona will play against Inter Milan on Wednesday in their United Champions League (UCL) game.
The last El Clasico took place in May, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw. But Barcelona had already won the La Liga title by then. Their league was confirmed after they thrashed Deportivo La Coruna 4-2 away before facing Real Madrid.
Compared to all the recent El Clasicos, the last was the least excited one as Barcelona were already the champions. And Real Madrid didn’t have much to offer as their full concentration was on the Champions League.
However, the next one will be a beginning of very new things. After the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, this will be Real Madrid’s first El Clasico. While for Barcelona, this will be their first without their captain Andres Iniesta.
This will also be Julen Loptegui’s first El Clasico as manager. The former Spanish boss already suffered a big blow, given by their city rivals Atletico Madrid.
Loptegui lost his first official match in charge against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup. However, he has started the league all with three wins a row before the international break.
El Clasico is a treat to watch for the football enthusiasts as La Liga President Javier Tebas himself announced the much-awaited date.
After the international break finished, Real Madrid will face Atheltic Bilbao while Real Socided will host Barcelona. It will be an ultimate test for Ernesto Valverde’s men as they rarely get the point at Anoeta.
