Paris Saint-Germain manager Lurent Blanc clarified in statement that the club is planning to reshape and strengthen the squad in the summer and would target big names who are currenlty associated with the top clubs in the world. One of his major targets is Manchester United star Angel Di Maria.

The Argentine midfielder had joined Manchester United last season from Real Madrid for a British record transfer fee £59.7 million. The move si yet to be confirmed by the two clubs and it looks complicated and United would be reluctant to let go a star player that too after one season. But on the other hand they have already acquired quality players like Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin in the last 48 hours. Angel Di Maria’s position in the starting lineup is doubtful now especially after his poor performance last season.

Regarding PSG’s transfers and reshaping the squad, L’Equipe quoted Laurent Blanc: We have our priorities. but to strengthen such a team you must target guys who are at big clubs and who are not easy to prise away. That’s hardest for PSG. Di Maria, he’s good. We have more freedom, but it remains a difficult project for us because we’re not alone in wanting him. When you see the financial power of the English clubs, they are attacking everyone. Competition is very, very tough. Don’t forget, Manchester United paid a fortune to sign him. For us to work effectively, we have to think of other solutions. We must be proactive.

Blanc admitted that bring Di Maria will be an uphill and the club will have to shell out huge amounts, but also mentioned that he likes Angel Di Maria as a player.

Angel Di Maria failed to live upto the expectation with which he was brought from Real Madrid. The first half of the season saw the Argentine sitting on the bench due to contineous injuries. In the second half of the season, his form took a dip and soon he was relegated to the bench and Juan Mata Marouanne Fellaini Ander Herrera and Ashley Young took the center stage. It will be interesting to see if Di Maria is actually sold by United just after a season.
