Lionel Messi is facing an awkward situation with his current club, Paris Saint-Germain, after being suspended by the Ligue 1 giants for an unofficial trip to Saudi Arabia. After receiving a harsh punishment, Messi apologised profusely to his PSG teammates through a short clip.

The Argentine superstar received a huge fine as well as a club ban for an unapproved mid-season vacation to Saudi Arabia. His teammates were said to be stunned after seeing Lionel Messi on a trip – especially after being left reeling as a result of a league defeat to Lorient.

Lionel Messi’s mission was to execute his job as an ambassador for the Middle Eastern country. He did not obtain authorization from the club, and they have chosen to take action as a result. As a result, the 35-year-old is said to be pondering cancelling his contract with PSG over the next 10 days.

The Argentine is reportedly unhappy with his two-week suspension and plans to leave the club before the conclusion of the season. According to LeParisen, Messi will be working to see if he can leave PSG within the next 10 days. He is currently serving the two-week suspension for the unauthorised journey to the Middle East.

According to reports, it was crystal clear with the Parisian club that Messi wanted to leave when his contract expired at the end of the season. However, recent occurrences have prompted the forward to ponder calling it quits before the club is crowned Ligue 1 champions.

Furthermore, Messi’s antics have strained his already fractured bond with PSG fans even more. Protests against the forward were held outside the club’s headquarters in Paris. In the aftermath of his ban, Lionel Messi took to Instagram with a video address, saying:

“I wanted to make this video after everything that’s been happening. First of all, I want to apologize to my teammates and the club. I sincerely thought we would have a free day after the match [against Lorient], as had happened in previous weeks. I’d already had this trip planned, which I’d canceled previously, and this one I couldn’t cancel. To repeat, I want to apologize for what I did and I await what the club decides.”

Lionel Messi’s future is currently uncertain as he strives to make a decision on his future. Barcelona have been constantly linked with a move on numerous occasions, but an emotional reunion is yet to take place. According to recent rumours, he is also in negotiations for a record-breaking move to Saudi Arabia this summer.

It was reported that Messi was being offered a £320 million per year contract, which would pay him more than twice as much as long-term rival Cristiano Ronaldo. After leaving Barcelona, the forward initially joined French heavyweights PSG in the summer of 2021.

Since then, the 35-year-old has appeared in 71 games and scored 31 goals. He won Ligue 1 during his stint in France and seems likely to add another domestic title to his collection this summer. PSG has five more league games until the end of the season, and it is unclear whether Messi will play in any of them.
