Player ratings from the 1-1 draw of Liverpool with Norwich
After a 3-1 drubbing at Old Trafford, Brendan Rodgers will have hoped to get all three points from this home fixture against newly promoted Norwich City. However, Russell Martin’s equalizer just after the hour mark gave Norwich a point from this Anfield game. The pressure is now on the Liverpool manager to start knitting results together.
Here are the player ratings for the Liverpool vs Norwich City match.
S Mignolet (2.5): Made some important saves but was at fault for martins goal.
N Clyne (2.5): Was stout defensively but could have given more width in attacks.
A Moreno (4): The best player on the pitch from both sides. Always looked like making things happen down the left.
E Can (3): Played in defense and set up some swift attacks from the back. Confident in possession.
M Skrtel (3): Was a bit shaky at the start but was dominant once he grew into the game.
M Sakho (3.5): Had some heart in the mouth moments in front of goal but was very good in the air and on the ground stopping the Norwich attacks.
L Lucas (3.5): Had a great game in the defense and his resilient pressing of the ball gave Liverpool their first goal.
P Coutinho (2.5): Not his best day for the Reds. Missed a significantly easy opportunity as he shot straight at Ruddy from 10 yards out.
J Milner (1.5): Far from a captains performance. Poor with set pieces and also poor with passing.
D Sturridge (3): Should have scored his first goal of the season but produced a fine save from Ruddy. Showed glimpses of what he can add to Liverpool.
C Benteke (2.5): Was not too involved in the game in the first half but did a good job holding the ball up. Picked up a niggle and was substituted at half time.
D Ings (3.5): Came in for Benteke at half time and grabbed a goal. Was intelligent with his movement and gave Norwich a headache in the second half.
A Lallana (2.5): Replaced Sturridge but could not stamp his authority over the game.
R Firmino (3): Showed some great promise going forward and tested the keeper minutes after coming on.
Ruddy (3.5): Made a string of fine saves all around and was also decisive in the air in his box.
S Whittaker (1.5): Struggled in attack and in defense and was the weakest link in the Norwich defense.
R Martin (3): The goal scorer for Norwich with a sublime finish from a corner. Also stood tall at the center back position whenever needed.
S Bassong (3.5): Stayed strong against all the forwards that Liverpool played. Was dominant in the air in winning the air balls.
R Brady (3): Made some important interceptions and also provided an outlet in attack.
M Jarvis (3): Was good in possession but often lacked the final ball needed for the visitors. Came close to scoring in the second half.
G Dorrans (3.5): Always showed intent driving forward from the back. An assured performance in the centre of the pitch.
N Redmond (2.5): Showed some pace at times but lacked the quality and skill to effect the game in the final third.
J Howson (2): Let the game run at its pace and never tried to impose himself. replaced by Hoolahan in the second half.
A Tetty (3): Did a good job breaking up the Liverpool attacks. Was also aware of any chance to put the Norwich forwards in on goal.
C Jerome (2.5): A tireless performance alone up front as Liverpool dominated their box.
G O Neil (2.5): Replaced Dorrans but did not do much during his time on the field.
L Grabban (3): Came in place of Jerome and started taking on players which caused a bit of a problem to Liverpool defense.
