Liverpool And Arsenal Open Talks For Key Chelsea And Manchester United Target
Liverpool and Arsenal have opened talks with Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk as they eye a summer transfer, according to reports in English media.
The 25-year old Dutch defender is arguably the best central defender this season and is keen to move to a bigger club in the summer as he is ready to test his skills with the very best in the world. This has prompted the likes of big clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea keep a close eye on his situation at Southampton.
The likes of Manchester City and Everton are also linked with a move as he is set to become one of the most exciting talents who could be available for a move this summer. Daily Mirror suggests Arsenal and Liverpool are currently leading the race for the defender as they have met with player’s advisers last week to discuss on a potential transfer.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal have faced a lot of problems in their defense this season and Jurgen Klopp, Arsene Wenger are determined to strengthen their central defense which has been a cause of concern for both the big clubs.
The Saints are expecting a bid in excess of £50m for the Dutch international as he is in the form of his life this year and has grown tremendously under new manager Claude Puel. Arsenal, Liverpool as well as Manchester City are very much keen to add him to their roster ahead of 2017-18 season as he could be the game changer with the class he brings to central defense.
