Liverpool are camping in Bangkok for their preseason, and are slated to face rivals Manchester United. However, the Reds have suffered a fresh injury blow ahead of their clash against United.
Summer recruit Darwin Nunez is the star in doubt to face United, as he limped-off the pitch during Liverpool’s training session. The Uruguayan made a £85 million million switch from Benfica to Liverpool, in a what was the Reds’ club record transfer.
The striker, labelled as a ‘Klopp mould’ scored 34 goals in 41 games last season in all competitions for the Portuguese side. Moreover, United too were in the fray to sign Nunez, but Liverpool pipped their rivals in the forward’s acquisition.

While fans all over the world are excited to watch Nunez in action for Liverpool for the first time, they may have to wait a little longer for the sight.
Liverpool star may have sustained a foot injury
According to The Telegraph, Nunez has suffered a foot injury during the training. Though the outlet adds that the injury might be a minor one, Nunez is still a doubt for the United game.
Further reports suggest that the 23-year-old has sustained painful blisters on his foot. Nunez did take part in Monday’s training session, but was withdrawn later on after indicating the pain.
The striker then spent the rest of the time with the team’s physiotherapist on the sidelines. It now remains to be seen whether Klopp risks his record signing against United, or gives him a complete rest.
Meanwhile, both United and Liverpool have had contrasting results both on and off the pitch as far as the last season concerned. United lost by a horrifying aggregate score of 9-0 against Liverpool over their two Premier League meetings last season.

In the transfer market as well, Liverpool are miles ahead of their fierce rivals. The Reds have conducted quick business, so far completing 3 signings in Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay.
On the other hand, United have just completed one signing so far under new manager Erik ten Hag. Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia has been United’s only acquisition so far, with many names further linked with a switch to Old Trafford.
