Liverpool are reportedly in advanced talks with their young defender Joe Gomez to extend his current contract at Anfield.
The England U-21 international, who remained on the sidelines for over a year after suffering ACL and Achilles injuries, has now fully recovered and played both fixtures of the FA Cup third-round tie with Plymouth Argyle.

The versatile defender is rated very highly by Liverpool and The Liverpool echo has reported that Jurgen Klopp is keen to keep him at the club for a long time.
The 19-year old, who was signed by former Reds boss Brendan Rodgers in 2015 for £3.5 million from Charlton Athletic, had played only seven games for Liverpool before playing in the FA Cup clash earlier this month but Klopp is already convinced with his potentials and is ready to offer him a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2022.
Several clubs were reportedly interested in taking the defender on loan for the season but Klopp was keen to keep the youngster under his watchful eyes.
Liverpool stars Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren are also in line to get new deals. James Pearce of The Liverpool Echo had earlier said:” Yes, Lallana will certainly get a new contract and the same goes for Lovren. They are both down to their last two years. Both are regarded as important to the future under Klopp.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s playmaker Philippe Coutinho has already committed his future to the Anfield outfit this week by signing a five-year contract, which makes him the club’s highest-paid player.
With all the players reportedly set to commit their future to the Reds, Klopp will be quite delighted. The former Borussia Dortmund mangers is looking to build a team that can challenge for the titles and having the core of the team intact will be a huge boost for the manager.
