Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool were given a smack in the face in the last 15 minutes at the Dean Court as Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth side managed to rum rampant and take all three points in a crazy end.
Klopp went with Lucas Leiva to partner Dejan Lovren in defense for this game with Joel Matip picking up a niggle and the duo let 4 goals in leaving Liverpool, who lead twice by 2 goals, without even a point for their troubles.
The fact that Lucas Leiva played ahead of Ragnar Klavan (and Mamadou Sakho) shows that the manager has little faith in his options and that has seen him look for additions in the transfer window.
Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk is high on the transfer wish-list for Klopp if recent reports are to be believed but the Reds are also looking at other alternatives to add to the squad.
Klopp has pursued at a few options in the summer transfer window but failed to get his hands on them and one such player who is yet again linked with the club is Inter Milan midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia.
The 23-year old has played at every junior level for the French national side, is one of the most dependable midfielder in the domestic circuit.
He made a solid start to his time in Italy but is currently out of favor in Milan with the Italian outfit reportedly ready to let him leave.
It is reported that the Inter are ready to sell up to 5 players in January with the likes of Jonathan Biabiany, Felipe Melo, Stevan Jovetic, Rodrigo Palacio and Davide Santon all linked with an exit.
And it is now understood that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, who have made a decent start to their campaign want to add him to get them through the tough periods in the second half.
The Reds lack a dominating midfielder who can cover for the back-4 when needed and though Henderson and Can have tried to fill in up to an extent, an absence of such a player was visible in the game against Bournemouth.
So Liverpool are desperate for midfield additions and reports suggest that the Anfield outfit are now favorites to land him in January.
Inter Milan are not only prepared to let him but are also ready to offer him on loan till the end of the season with an option to make it permanent for around £18.5m in the summer.
Liverpool are not the only teams interested in his signature with Chelsea’s Antonio Conte also looking at the Frenchman for some depth in the squad.
It will be interesting to see which of the teams will be able to lure him out of San Siro in January.
